Entering Gremertshausen
In the early 90's I was invited to record for the band Shady Mix, who lived near Munich, Germany in a town called Gremertshausen. I'll never forget how green I was to traveling and when I got out of Munich, this town, although not too far from the city, provided fresh air and country goodness, hay, cats, trees, all the things that reminded me of home. It was absolutely beautiful. We entered Gremertshausen and I settled in for 2 weeks of the best time of my life.
I was thinking about this today and thinking about a fellow BHO member from Munich area, Gerhard, a fellow friend and banjo player. Gerhard, if you hear this, it's for you buddy.

Clawhammer finger issues
I have been playing clawhammer for a while and as of late my middle finger has been becoming very sore... The first knock coming off the hand hurt to the point of stopping me from playing... Its like a arthritic style pain... and i have to crack my knuckle to relieve the pain.
I play on light strings, I try to keep the neck up right to keep my hand at a right angle to the strings. But no matter what I try... the pain keeps up...
I have been switching to play with my index finger, But really do not what to start having issues start up on this finger....
I know I should just check with my Doc... But want to see if anybody else has had this issue.

Some contestants made it easy to downgrade by simply not following the rules. (Too bad cause they were really good).

To use a pick, or not?
Please pardon the newbie question, but I'd like opinions. I am brand-spankin' new to learning clawhammer banjo. As a massage therapist, I have NO fingernails and never will have them long enough for a free-edge. I played for a few days with no pick but was worried about wear to my nail (and accuracy), so I started using a metal pick. What should I do - continue to use the pick, or will my own nail hold up to be able to go without? Does it affect the sound?

How do they do that?,,,,
O daughter takes her 3 girls, 7,8 and 12 years old to church in Sunday and Wed.
They were teaching them the 10 commandments
The teacher told them one time and the 12 year old knows them all
I just asked her what the 4 th one was and she told me, while she's on the computer drawing something.
I have memorized hundreds of songs but only by repetition.
I use to be able to name all the books in the bible but couldn't right now and I can't even remember all ten of those old commandments. :(
This 12 year old can also read at least 6 times as fast as I can,,,,I'm so proud of her but wonder about how I got threw this life this far? ;)

I need a teacher in Saskatoon!
I know you're out there! I need help with basic chords. I've read the chord pages in all my books to tatters, but my brain won't retain any of it. I simply don't understand it. Everyone tells me that chords are basically the first thing I need to learn, so...
Anybody? I think I need a teacher I can sit down with to do this. My wife's cousin is a great musician but for some reason I can't learn anything from him either (sorry Bryan!).
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, I'm not getting anywhere with books or online instruction.

parenthesis
What does it mean when a note is in parenthesis?. I was working on Dueling Banjos and there were a few notes in parenthesis directly under other notes that weren't and I didn't know what this meant. If I play them at the same time is sounds wrong. Any help would be appreciated!
