In 1985 we had a family band, plus a few other musicians in the band. I was 14, and just learning melodic banjo. I think the mandolin player, Cliff, introduced me to this song and we learned it and recorded it then. It's called Texas Chili

"Last Days on Earth" is one of my all-time favorite Bill Monroe songs. In addition to the classic studio version, are there any commercially available live tracks?
Neat little banjo for 225.00
I dropped the price on my Bart Reiter Round Peak.
I know there's a name for a chord that has only the 1 and 5 notes of it's scale, i.e., it's missing the 3 note. For example, such a chord in the G scale would have only the notes G and D. I think in rock circles it's called a "power chord", but does anyone know a more generic name for it? I can't think of it for the life of me.
Just wondered if anyone like to drink it with their meal instead making gravy.
I love it dark brow, take a bite of stake or mac and a swig of juice.
I really think it would go good with some shine. ;)

Thanx for lookin'
I posted this a couple of days ago in collectors corner but didn't get much response. Anybody have any opinions?
I hope this is the correct place.
I am looking hard at a GLS Audio Instrument Microphone ES-57 to use to mic my Banjo.
This is for open mics so I don't want to go crazy on the price.
There are some really positive reviews on this.
Any opinions out there?
Thank you!
bomb.Do any of you enjoy working out gospel tunes in open D. Lately I have been giving this a go.
I have always enjoyed playing in D, I usually tune the high string in F#. I'm not going for speed, the highest tempo I will use is around 117, some as low as 87 bpm. I have long held the notion a banjo can have a beautiful sound and doesnt have to be played 200 bpm to be an effective instrument.
I have lately been playing "In the Sweet, Bye and Bye", which works itself out very well in D.
So I was just wondering if anyone else enjoys this.
Must sell. Hate to do it but financial pinch necessitates it.

Seeing this broadcast really inspired me. The four of these guys still got it after being in the business 50 years, I am still in shock! Mick has the energy of an 18 year old girl skipping around the stage, and Wood is still smoking cigs. Whoa.....
I'm out of words.
Cheers,
Terry
Does anyone out there know where I can find the tabs for the band perry's song "better dig two" I just like the sound so much. Being new to this site and fairly new to the banjo also, thought I would ask? Can not find it out there on the internet. Thanks, Tim
My mind is numb tonight. I can't think of anything to say. Maybe someone else does, but I don't.
While traveling to NYC and spending some time in my parked car waiting for my wife to shop, I was annoyed by how many people were sitting in their cars with motor running to keep the AC on while talking on cell phones or waiting for someone. Beside the fact that needless petro was being burned, and adding to enviromental issues, the fumes drifted into my car windows which is annoying at best. So I move my car in front of the store near the front door thinking that would solve the problem of at least listening to cars idling and abnoxous fumes when another car parks beside me and does the same thing. I finally went into the store to avoid all this. Anyone else feel the same way?
