What's up folks, I bought a 6-string banjo some months ago, but it's kinda boring... is there anything that a can do for tuning it like a 5 string banjo? how I could create the drone (G) I was thinking about a partial capo.. do you guys think that it's going to work ?
Appreciate the attention, thanks!
Hi Banjofriends,
A few months ago I found these youtube video's from the;Ocoee Parking Lot Bluegrass Jam

The sound and image quality is great, you can play along with these people. I have a small computer speakerset connected to my laptop and when I turn it up to the same volume my banjo is playing, it sounds if I am there... real fun! There in tune and you can see the hands of the players and learn from them.
If you are looking for a jam and live far away from other musicians than you could try this

Hi,
I would really appreciate your help. I need to play a song in the band in C#m but I can't work out the best way to get there. My music theory is almost zero.
From other posts, I'm guessing Double C, first string up to Eb and then capo 1?
This would be a bit tricky for 5th string on my banjo, so 5th capo 2 and drop 1/2 not to G#?
Thanks
Frank
I have my Earl Scruggs signature "49 Classic" for sale in the BHO classifieds and folks are asking how many were made. I really don't know....does anyone have an idea?
Thanks!
I am testing a new bridge. This is a JBS ring and old black cherry bridge.

I ordered a Gold Tone BC-350 yesterday. After playing the BC-120 a couple of weeks ago and liking it, I decided to simply get the BC-350 and not travel all over the south looking to play different brands. I hope I will be happy with it.
Are there any alterations you guys suggest being made to this banjo; 5th string capo, bridge, muting, strings, etc.
Thanks,
Phil
Here's a link for a forthcoming performance, centered on his recent book but framed throughout by the banjo:

Exercise and deep breathing and yoga/meditation come to mind right away. Eating right also tops up there.
Are there other healthy ways to deal with stress?

Our family will be spending a few weeks in Door County Wisconsin enjoying some warm water sailing over the 4th of July. I was curious if there might be any nearby Old Time music venues or jam sessions? Always fun to meet and play with people.
Any help would be appreciated - Thank you,
Rob

So I've been thinking about buying a banjo for a while now, and I had one with a really nice price, and overall pretty good beginner banjo (from what I've heard) that also came with some other things like a banjobag, extra strings, a tuner, and so on. However, it wasn't in stock by then, and now they're not selling them anymore apparently. Therefore I need to find a new banjo that I can buy. Since I live in Sweden getting something from a store in USA will most likely add ~100$ to shipping, so does anyone have a good openback banjo to recommend for a beginner that's not too pricey but still sounds ok AND is sold in Europe?
By the way, the banjo I had been planning to buy before was the Recording King O25-BR (which would've cost me about 350 euro with shipping, and quite alot of items that came with it).
Having a conversion neck built for a tb1. I've decided on the Gull wing pattern for the neck but and debating head shape.

Any thoughts?

Getting ready for an early/mid July annual two weeks in the Northern Adirondacks of New York State: near Saranac Lake, Gabriels, Buck Pond, Bloomingdale, Vermontville, Onchiota, Paul Smiths, etc.
Just wondering if there are any Old Time jams in the area or players that might like to jam? Not interested in the Mountain Arts Gathering music camp at Paul Smiths College this year. Thanks.
I HOPE I got the name right. I was watching "They died with their boots on", with Errol Flynn, as Custer. This I believe was the 7th calvary's theme song. I always liked the melody, so while watching, got my guitar, and figured it out. sounds like a fiddle tune to me. Now as this depiction of Custer goes, the movie shows Custer to be a humanitarian, and pro- indian. Things I have read state otherwise
One of the cuts from our new "Dust On the Altar" CD......My wife Cindi is singing lead and playing bass, I'm on banjo and mandolin, and my grandpa is playing rhythm guitar......I appreciate you all giving it a listen!
This drives me crazy in banjo-for-sale ads. Mostly seen on E-bay. Usually just an excuse for the difficulties the instrument has. Give a good description, please
