Hi Folks, I'm working on a small bit of restoration on a John Wesley banjo from the 1890's. The Wesley was a house brand instrument made by the JB Schall company for the J.W. Jenkins Music Company in Kansas City. In general it's a nicely appointed, but not ornate, instrument of the Schall style. The work that I'm doing is replacing the nickel-silver inlay at the base of the fingerboard, and the Nickel-silver heel cap. None of the current inlays are engraved, but it was very common for the heel cap to be engraved with initials etc. on the Schalls that I have seen, often with an ornate font that is almost Old English. What I'd love to see are examples of the heel caps so I have someplace to start with this one. I'd appreciate any pictures of Schall made instruments that anyone could post.
Thanks,
Jamie
