I was at a festival and played an incredible sounding banjo. I was surprised how good it sounded since I had never thought of Gibson florentine banjos as player's instruments, but rather something to look at and put behind glass. Here are the specs as told to me by the owner: 1930, plectrum banjo with a replacement neck built by Greg Rich, original flat head tone ring. I was surprised about the flat head tone ring since those were extremely rare for this model (based on Spann's article).
Anyone know more about this banjo or which other Gibson would sound closest to it?
