John Henry Which Version?

I consider myself somewhat of a beginner.  Next song I'm wanting to learn is John Henry however I have 3 versions of the song and in 3 different keys.From Earl's book key of D. Pete Wernicks version in G. (looks easy) and I have Alan Munde's version which is in C tuning. I am sure it is a personal preference but what would be your alls pick.
