A woman and a horse was killed in Florida when a hyperbaric chamber the horse was being treated in exploded. I'm a SCUBA diver and I never heard of a horse being treated in a hyperbaric chamber. We always used to be aware of where the nearest decompression (hyperbaric) chamber was in case of decompression disease (the bends). This happened at an equine treatment center near Ocala in horse country. Apparently the horse became agitated and started kicking. The women tried to decompress the chamber but that takes 20 minutes. The horse kicked through a protective coating and caused a spark when his metal shoe contacted the metal chamber wall and caused the explosion in the oxygen rich environment.
