I recently built a "hot-rod" banjo as an experiment, and it turned out great, but time to re-invest in my other hobby! I've thought about tearing this hot rod down, and selling the parts for what they are.....P A R T S !
Here is what I have:
A matte finished maple neck from an RK-35 Madison banjo that had a one-piece flange, and flathead tone ring. (this neck has had the frets leveled and de-burred...heel cut checked) The neck will include the original RK tuners and fifth peg. The tuners all have matching buttons in faux pearl.
Complete hardware from the banjo including...hooks, nuts, flange, wall lugs, resonator hdwe., tailpiece and tailpiece hdwe., thumbscrews (3), tension hoop, armrest, coordinator rods...etc., you get the picture. Nickel-plated hardware is all Recording King (but not original to the banjo purchased separately).
The resonator was originally made for a Kalamazoo conversion that had three lugs, so that is why this banjo resonator has three lug wall holes. The resonator is gloss black with dual concentric rings on the back (mastertone style). It is a Gill resonator, but not the pre-war Gill...I believe Arthur told me that, but he may or may not remember...it's been about three years ago! White binding w/o any aging.
Kalamazoo pre-war rim that had another layer added to make it full-thickness (I don't know for sure who did the work?), was a shoe-and-bracket rim that was cut for a flathead tone ring, (a Dannick short skirt), and a one-piece flange. Also drilled for two coordinator rods.
A wide set of Cheat-a-Keys (wide "Bowtie/Stelling" version) w/factory faux pearl button.
I will post pics tomorrow evening....JLMK if there is any interest in the parts as grouped above, the complete banjo w/case, the tone ring, the pot assembly, the hardware as a complete package???
Here's the original thread where I started to talk about building the banjo pictured...
