Yes. The prices will keep on rising. Shopping sales is good. Buying in bulk is saving. The bulk dry things are stored and the meats on sale are divided and packaged smaller. label for the freezer.
I took an idea from some Mormon friends. Storage. For dry things that you can put in the storerooms on shelves: Take a gallon (or half gallon) plastic jug empty. Wash good. Let dry completely. Use funnel to put in rice, flour, sugar, or dry beans...any dry thing. Put piece of plastic on top of jug when full, and secure with rubber band...make all this tight, then screw on lid. Label contents with magic marker on bottom and side of the jug. Stack on sides in shelf. Label showing for ease of reading. I also date the jug. It won't break, and is secure for a later time.
Here winters are not always easy. I store things to prevent extra driving and shopping. I also stack foil and whatever that will be needed. The things that will freeze are left in the pantry inside. If I run out of an item, I buy two...one for storage, and one to use. Backup. I buy tuna and other cans that keep and stack those...usually buy those by the half case or case. On sale!
I shop sales and am frugal. But always have food that we will need, and a large variety. Thus, I keep a small store at home.
Hope this helps some of you.
