One of our local veteran pickers had his Dobro and his Gibson bow-tie stolen from his car several years ago. This week his old bow-tie was recovered when it was brought into my friend's music store by someone wanting to trade it. My friend recognized the banjo immediately and the authorities were summoned. The guy trying to trade had been sitting on this banjo for several years. He claimed he bought it for $500 from a guy who said he got it from someone else for $50. He knew it had to be hot at such a low price. Problem was he thought it had cooled off enough(I think it's been about 6 years or so)to sell.
