As my handle portrays, I'm a banjo newby. As usual, I've got all the standard problems of learning to play a new-to-me instrument. However, today I want to know how to CLEAN a banjo.
I know how to clean my mandolins and guitars -- very straight forward. But my banjo has a LOT of inaccessible surface area -- all the dust, dirt, saliva, and general detritus that falls under the hooks and onto the rim is quite visible but difficult to reach. How do you clean this area??
Seems like the problem of a kid wearing braces on their teeth and having to clean out cake (chocolate, poppy seed), or maybe muesli while tooth brushing!
My banjo is pretty new but given enough time, I can see this area looking like the sheet of paper in a parakeet cage! Do I have to take the banjo apart to clean it??
