About 4 or 5 years ago a friend of mine in Knoxville, Kent Bilbry, bought an 8-track digital recorder and I spent a day or two over there laying down about 20 raw tunes, just banjo and a tick track, so he could learn how to use his new machine. A few of these "basement" recordings are already posted to my BHO home page, but just this weekend (January 14th 2012) I learned that Kent had gone on and re-worked several of those tunes years ago, and I was surprised and delighted to hear many of these tunes I had totally forgotten about. This is one of those tunes I have almost forgotten knowing, and had also completely forgotten that I had worked up a twin banjo part for it. You know, if you don't use it, you lose it!! So it was great to hear this again, and I wanted to share this tune here. It was fun.
I am unsure of the origins of this tune, other than I picked it up somewhere in the east Tennessee area. On this cut, I overdubbed a 2nd banjo track. All this was done in one take each. Kent then later added bass, mandolin chops and rhythm guitar to it and mixed down what I'm posting here.
I hope you enjoy.
