Hello all,
I have been working on "Farewell" by myself, I have it all the way down, except for the B part.
Mike Compton does an amazing rendition of this Bill Monroe tune, and I was wondering if some of ya'll could help me on the B part. It has a lot of notes on it, and as some of you know, Butch Robins and I are a lot alike, we both look up to Bill Monroe as probably our second highest influence, second to Earl Scruggs.
I'd like to accomplish a mandolin type version, simply because I'd like to play it like Bill, and he wrote this beautiful tune, and I think it is right and just only to pay homage to Bill on this piece.
Monroe's Farewell to Long Hollow
To accomplish a mandolin type arrangement, the biggest goal is to never go lower than the third string, but I don't have to do this.
Thank you.
