I was driving home from work today on the only road from here to civilization & I saw a van off the road just barely in the bushes. It's a 2 lane with a speed limit of 60 kph.
There was a guy walking around shaking his head & another truck pulled over to help. The van was still upright, wasn't on fire & didn't even look banged up.
About a mile later I see the first ambulance, everyone has to pull over in both directions. Then a fire dept. pickup with lights flashing, then 3 cop cars, then another ambulance, another fire dept. pickup & a full blown heavy rescue fire truck.
I'm glad I made it through because that was at 4:20. If I got caught in that I probably would still be there now (5:30).
I know some people would say that it's nice to have that kind of service. I heard on my local radio station a road ranger report of a van in the ditch. They didn"t know that?.
They shut the road down & direct traffic in their crisp little uniforms during rush hour to make it look like they did something today. All you needed was a tow truck & a cop car.
The average joe with a one hour commute is one hour late for supper!. I see it as a big fat waste of time & money.
I'll probably get blasted for this but it seems like a lot of those guys are just big kids that like to drive fast with all their lights & sirens going.
Any thoughts??.
