Maybe I've missed it, I did search and couldn't find it either. But I've noticed that rims are made of all sorts of woods and the rim on the banjo i'm borrowing while learning to play is made of Bakelite! How does the wood of the rim effect tone or sound? I've seen a lot of made with maple, cherry and mahogany just to name a few. I've found great info rim construction, tone-rings, strings, bridges, etc, but nothing on rim material choice. Does someone have a run down of what kind of tone a certain wood generally makes? I realize there are a million other factors, but what does rim wood contribute? Thanks.
