Hi all
My local wood supplier has a nice board of well dried Scottish beech he is offering me , 100 cm x 40 cm x 3 cm. It has nice flaming and some light spalting at one end. I know some folks are evangelical about beech pots. Any opinions on how this wood might be for block pots for a 10'' baritone uke and a 8'' inch piccolo. Would the small amount of spalting weaken the pot /affect the sound? The guy has tons of beech of all persuasions, how is this stuff for necks in case I'm tempted to make more banjos.
