Hello! Brand new to the forum and would like to start out by vacuuming out your brains.
I have a cheapo (but surprisingly well constructed) Epiphone MB100 that has been converted into a four string. I wanted to add a transducer pickup (with a jack drilled into the side of the body)... I'm just not sure where the best place to stick it would be -- or how to go about mounting it in a way that won't adversely affect the sound (too much). I want to avoid mounting it to the bridge, in the bridge, under the bridge, etc. A body or 'skin' underside mount seem best logistically. I definitely want to make it a permanent fixture (ie. avoid ye olde duct tape route).
And I realize there are pickup systems out there that I could purchase, but this is my tinkering instrument and I'd like to keep it as DIY (and cheap) as possible.
Just want to pick your noodles before I get started experimenting.
