Hey folks!
I am entertaining the notion of starting a record label and putting out OT releases. I've always wanted to start a label and I was thinking about putting out a regional California compilation of OT solo players and groups that I dig up and like etc.
There haven't really been too many California comps that I can think of beside Mike Seegers "Berkeley Farms" and Arhoolies' "Way Out West" , so I think it's time that we have an update on what kinds of OT musicians are currently in this great state.
Does anyone have any helpful advice concerning what you would want if you were approached by someone like myself and asked to be on a comp of other like-minded OT musicians..as far as compensation etc.. What you would expect from the finished product.
I'm really just in the brain-storming section of this project currently so ANY advice would be helpful.
I already have a friend who is an experienced recording engineer with mobile recording equipment so we will be travelling to the participants and doing all of the recordings ourselves, so I've got that aspect covered already.
Any tips, tricks or pitfall avoidance strategies would be welcomed.
Thanks,
Jim.
