I've been teaching my grand daughter banjo since she was 8 and she is 12 now. In the past 6 months she has taken a quantum leap forward and her fingers are just flying. Her timing is amazing and she loves to play. The big problem is that in our family band she wants to play everything at lightening speed and I CAN'T play that fast! I've never been fast and it's getting kind of late for me to ever catch up to my grand daughter's speed. Neither her parents nor I can afford to get her a new teacher so she is stuck with me. I went through all the material I have to try to find something she could learn from tab, maybe. I've taught her all the tunes I've learned from my Murphy Henry videos. I need tunes that she can learn on her own and that are pretty fast pieces. I think she needs to have tunes that she plays and I don't when we are performing. Does anyone have any ideas?
If I did this right, here's a picture of our grand daughter last weekend at the Steam Punk festival busking. The make up is kind of weird but her outfit is adorable. We all got dressed up Steam Punky and were busking together. It was a blast!.
