The Swift Fox is a small fox (5 to 7 pounds full grown...about the size of a housecat) and was thought to be extinct at one time, but started reappearing in the 1970's from what I have read. There are currently only about 1,200 of them in the wild and they live in southern Alberta and Saskatchewan and in northcentral Montana.
I was going fishing the other day and dang near ran over this Swift Fox.. He ran back away from the road and I was able to get some photos of him... I've lived here over 30 years and this is the first one I've ever seen.. Most people around here have never seen one.
