Here's the inquiry, from Charles:
=========
As you might be aware, I'm down here in Oklahoma, being a wheatie with Larry and Bridget.

We got to talking about putting mesquite to use. You're probably aware it's very much like locust in terms of durability. My idea is to harvest
the trees, slice them into strips and laminate them into nearly-indestructible beams of all sizes.
Since you've worked a lot with wood, I thought you might have some idea of what a production line would be dealing with in terms of slicing and gluing.
==========================
He is wrong, wrong, wrong!
Almost every pice of wood I ever used, had been professionally milled, long before I got it.
I have not got the froggiest notion how to make beams out of mesquite.
HLL, for all I know, mesquite is just some scrawny little shrub, suitable for chopping into chips and using in a smoker, and I've never done that, either.
Any of my 70,000 closest friends have any beam-building advice for Charles?
