Yesterday I made a big load of donations to the Salvation Army. Been hauling stuff out of here by the truckload. Making some organization, you might say. These donations will help others. Times for some are hard, so every little bit helps.
Indian things...mostly Southwest Indian things that I have collected for years and years. Packed away in many boxes. I unpacked some of that yesterday, and carefully wrapped the items for the 'auction' part of the Salvation Army that they put in glass cases for people to bid on...helps them a lot with funds.
Some of these things...yes, very spendy. I bought a great deal from the estate of a famous collector of Indian artifacts. His family didn't like nor want these treasures, but I did. Made several trips to get the things. I saved them carefully. Now letting them go to help other people. They will be made the most use that I can think. Helping others that need help.
It was interesting when I sat them on the counter. The clerks very gently unwrapped some things, and ooed and awed over the beauty. I knew that my decision was correct to let them go. Yes, I have more and more packed away as yet. Will take them a few at a time to donate.
The other boxes and bags that I took were household items and clothes. Things that need to be passed along.
It's a good feeling to give things away.
The reward? Yep. We had a wonderful meal at my favorite restaurant over there! And the drive was just beautiful...love snow capped mountains that we see surrounding us. Wonderful...just wonderful. Miles and miles of nothing but nature.
I put the yellow firetruck in the back gates when I got back. He's made his last trip for the summer. Stored now. Will use the Honda or the diesel for the summer. Time to change out vehicles.
Contentment is different for everyone..they see it different. These things bring contentment for me.
