The neck on Earl's banjo attributed to G W Gower...

....was not made by G W Gower. I was in contact with Larry Perkins today, and he told me that Earl and Louise always contended that the neck was built by Walt Pittman, and later on it was given to G W Gower to have the D-tuner holes plugged and Earl wanted it refretted. Gower ended up replacing the fretboard and plugging the holes.

I apologize for my part in disseminating incorrect information. History should record the facts as laid out in the above statement. There are numerous references to the neck and it's generally been attributed to Gower ... incorrectly. I don't know about you ... but I doubt if anybody knew better than Earl and Louise just "who" had built that neck, and I'm going to take their word for it.

Larry ...... Thanks for passing along the correct history.

Wyatt
