Little Katie is deaf. Can no longer hear. She is my heartbeat. My hairy kid. This little dog has a constant companion in the Pom, Gidget, as that little dog has taken to watching over her like a mama. Smart little dog...understands words like you would never think a dog can. She is Katy's help and leader.
Katy needs more love and attention, and I gladly give that. I stop whatever I am doing to pick her up or just pet her. It's a deep need for the little dog to be accepted right now, and that's not difficult. Not at all. I am always there for her.
I adopted Katy when her mama had to go to a nursing home. I understand the lady passed. She came on the senior bus before passing to see Katy and hold her one last time. I had tears seeing that fond goodby. I promised that wonderful ailing lady to care for Katy as long as she is on the planet. I keep my word. It is my bond. It is my honor.
The seniors were from another town, by the way. This bus trip out here was special. I showed them my cabin and grounds, and saw tears of remembering the past that they once knew. Time stands still here at the cabin. The past lives on, and did for that busload of seniors. You would never believe how they accepted this old time place!
Loving Katy comes easy. She loves back...and gives love freely.
In my life, I have many disabled people. Ugly, and cast aways from the society. I love them. I help when I can. Unwanted. I am not accustomed to beautiful people. They are often so into themselves, that they Only think of themselves. I do the ugly, the disabled, the unwanted. Handsome men are fun to look at, oh yeah...but Only to look at from a distance. Not use to pretty people. I had rather, far rather have the ugly and unwanted and cast aways. Heart...it's all about heart. It's all about caring. It's all about being human. Maybe need.
