Hey all,
I was listening to some Doc Watson blues and one of the lines is: She'll be back some cold and frosty morning. It was about a failed relationship. Couldn't find the title but that isn't important...
I heard this line and it jumped right out. I've heard it live too, and it struck me then. What a poetic phrase -
Cold and Frosty Morning
To me the image is of a love long gone, dead. barren.
Who is out in the cold on a Cold Frosty Morning? How is it, did they get there? Have you ever washed your face outside on a Cold and Frosty Morning? Yikes. It is raw and real. A good baseline on the comfort scale.
It has been used in rhymes and songs going way back. I just thought it was interesting that some of the phrases we use in lyrics are
centuries old.Hope yours is warm and toasty.
