One of those questions that pops in my head every time I see this; and seems like I see it a lot. When looking at pictures and on some of the videos I have, the banjo players often have a gaping hole in need of a truss rod cover. Any particular reason that these musicians choose to play with their instruments this way? Definitely not interested in following their 'trend', just curious as to the need to perform this way with easy access to the truss rod. (Always have found that adjustment to be a once in a very great while necessity, so can't figure out the reasoning.)
