I know its been discussed somewhat and I need to do some searching. I have an older 70's Masterclone that has a cracked plastic rim. Even though I have bought a better banjo I still want to upgrade this one with a new rim and head. I have a local Luther that is going to do the work. Just wondering if going from a plastic to a wooden rim will make much difference in tone and or volume. I also realize the banjo may not be worth much more than all the work that will be done. However I really like playing it and the tone. The issue with the cracked rim is that its shifted to one side and you cant even get a wrench on but about 2/3 rds of the brackets. thanks again.
