My dad gave me a banjo a few months ago, he bought it at an estate sale. I imagine it must be a cheap beginner's model. It has no identifying marks on it at all. It did have a "Made in Taiwan" sticker on the back of the peg head, but I peeled it off. It sounded not so great... after reading up and picking on it for a bit I made a couple modifications. I adjusted the neck/pot to lower the action a bit, tightened the head, and replaced the bridge with a Hatfield with Crowe spacing. This did liven up the instrument, but I still think it is not near as nice as some of the banjos I have heard here, and on Youtube. I plan on putting money in the banjo jar, since I can't afford to buy a replacement right now. Here are some pics. Check out the slotted screw used as the 5th string nut. Comments welcome, any tidbit of info at all.
