I recently installed spikes at the 7th, 9th and 10th frets. I now find that the 5th string is touching the top of the 7th spike and causing an audible vibration. I can't lower the spike otherwise I wouldn't be able to get the 5th string under the spike. My whole 5th string is sitting lower than the other 4 strings and it appears as if the 5th string has bitten into the small plastic "pip" near the 5th string tuning peg as there is some excess "pip" material squeesing out from the "pip' slot. Any idea how to repair this and can I remove the 5th string and place some kind of a shim in the "pip's" slot to raise the 5th string. Also how is this "pip" held in place; force fit or glued? The 5th string looks to be at the proper height down at the bridge but it gets lower and lower as it goes down the neck towards the tuning peg. Any help much appreciated.
