I bought this banjo knowing it was probably a copy,I paid $1000.00 for it about ten years ago and started playing. I've been told by some it's really a gibson ,I'm no expert and could use some help in deciding what to say,I don't mind what it is because it plays very nice,sounds kinda like Ralph Stanley's banjo which suits me just fine,it holds it's tune good and looks good to.The tone ring is an arch top looks to me like brass,it wieghs 3lbs 14.5 oz to be exact and has twenty holes( there are more pictures in my album) the rim has some numbers scratched into it but I don't think it's a serial number the number is 47943 K the number 7 has a stroke thru it almost looks like a z not sure though,the flange i think is what they call a 2 piece,the rest i'm not sure ,Thanks for any input you provide
