I am test driving a banjo this week to see if I should buy it. I took it to a music shop; the guy opened up the back and showed me that the tension rod was bent - not severely, not like at an ANGLE or anything but def bent. Do they ever unbend the bend, or do they always replace the whole thing ? It's a 12 yr old Blue Ridge with a resonator, he said it might be worth $200 or so. I want one with a resonator (I have an open back Deering goodtime as well). Should I have the repair shop repair the tension rod and buy this cheaper banjo while waiting til I can afford the Deering Sierra or something of that caliber? Or just do with what I have til I can afford a better banjo with a resonator. He is also going to replace the strings and tighten the head. Thanks.
