I just purchased a beautiful hardshell case from the hangout classifieds and am blown away at the craftsmanship of the case. It has tons of padding and holds the banjo firm in every direction. This case makes my Washburn look like it doesn't fit the banjo, even though it was made by and shipped with banjo.
Here's my question. Because I've never owned a proper fitting case and banjo I'm wondering if the archtop case with the deering plate on the side next to the handle will properly hold a Goodtime 2? The banjo lid closes almost completely but requires a little pressure to force it down and to latch it. Is this normal for a fitting case, or should the case close completely with no room inside for the banjo to move.
I can shave the neck blocks down if necessary. I'd rather not have to cut into anything unless it's necessary. And if this is too much pressure on the banjo or case, then I'll definitely make it right.
Thanks
