I was in college at Southeast Missouri State University when the first shuttle launched. I was an engineering student and we had a big screen TV in class watching the launch. Then I moved to Florida in 1985 and have witnessed a lot of shuttle launches including the horrible tragedy of the break up of the shuttle Challenger in 1986. This marks the end of an era.
The shuttle is on the back of a 747 in route to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. They flew down the coast to Cocoa Beach and then turned back to the North and flew past KSC one last time. Wish I could have been there to see her fly by.
