I live in north Jersey and go to college in south Jersey, and I am absolutely in love with the banjo and bluegrass/old time music. However, I am starting to think that I may be just about the only one in the state who does. Obviously this is an exaggeration and I'm sure some of you are from Jersey, but the amount of people I've met who dig the music can be counted on one hand, and I've never met another banjo player. Few music stores have the instruments, and they are usually of poor quality and kept in a backroom collecting dust. I realize that New Jersey isn't exactly the bluegrass capital of the country, but it is so frustrating not being able to share my love of the music with others and get some good jams going. The only times I've even been able to play bluegrass with people is when I can get a friend to humor me and keep some chords going while I play over them. Thoughts? Advice? And more importantly, anyone want to jam?
