When I was a kid, my mom would occasionally cut up an apple, especially green apples.... sprinkle salt on the cut apple quarters and proceed to eat them.
I tried it and liked it...
Then I saw her do that with watermelon one summer...
I liked that also...
She was also known to cut lemons in half, sprinkle salt on... squeeze them and basically drink the squeezed juice from the lemon half...
I like that as well...
As a young adult, my front teeth were wrecked from eating lemons as a kid and a teenager...
Somehow, neither one of my brothers picked up on this habit...
I find now, as an adult in mid life (age 51)... I still like the lemon and salt mixture...
Everyone around me thinks I'm crazy... some will stare as I shake some salt into a wine glass, add lemon juice (maybe a 1/4 cup, if that much) swirl, tilt glass and swallow.
Sometimes, in order to curb this craving for lemon juice and salt, I will eat a few kosher dill pickles...
That usually satisfies the urge...
Does anyone else share this lemony, salt craving thing?
