Looking for some advice.
I found a 2006 Deering Calico for sale, and I'm debating whether to get that or a new Deering Sierra. I can't play either because they're out-of-state.
Couple questions:
- Which would be the more tonally versatile banjo? I often play jazz/classical/Bela stuff, so I tend to like the rich sound of Mahogany. BUT I love that driving Scruggs/Crowe sound. If I wanted both, which banjo is going to give me the best of both worlds?
- Anything particular about the 2006 Calico? Was it a good year, bad year. I think they switch to a new tone ring (called the 2006 Tone Ring) that year, but not entirely sure.
Thanks!
Matt
