So last year I bought a 1926 Paramount Style A Tenor Banjo that I had restrung for GDAE tuning. The action is very high compared to what I had been playing before, and after some reading I think I may have a bowed neck. I held down the first and 19th frets and looked around the middle (8th fretish) and this is what I saw....
The string that's fretted is the G String, and it's gauge is .036. Where does this situation fall in terms of what would need to be done? Is this a bowed neck? And if so, is it treatable with heat or would it need something else? How much would it usually cost for a luthier to take care of the problem? Many thanks!!
