I have a noname banjo that looks to be from the turn of the century. It looks like it could be a variant or a knock off of the Stewart 20th Century model. If there ever was a manufacturers' label on it, it was likely removed when the resonator was fitted to it.
The rim is 10.5" x slightly under 2.5" - inside wood is painted copper/gold. There appears to be steel rings inside the rolled edges of the rim
the exposed metal portion of the rim appears to be nickel plated.
Stamped with "28" on neck side of pot
There are 40 lugs fastened with washers and slotted round head screws (not bolts)
The tension ring is brass with number "28" stamped on the inside
The neck has 22 frets
The pot to nut measurement is 19.5"
Tailpiece: Elite PAT MAY '99
The original metal neck fastener was removed to fit the resonator and is long gone. I'd like to find a correct replacement.. From the grime outline and hole spacing, It looks suspiciously like it could have been an SS Stewart part.
Any ideas as to make and model of this?
