ivoroid binding is a hazmat

I've been using ivoroid binding since before the wheel was invented. I just went to order some more of it (from LMI) and found a $25 surcharge tacked on to my shipping cost.....because it's a hazmat.

So here is how it shakes out, at it's most absurd:

One piece of ivoroid binding cost $5.90. Standard shipping for that one item is $8.50, plus a $25 surcharge= $33.50.

I know that Stewart-MacDonald is no longer offering ivoroid binding. Has anyone figured out a way around this or is ivoroid binding a thing of the past?
