I have made 2 tackhead pots and stretched the skin. In the previous tackheads I had purchased the skin was very affected by humidity,,,, so when I stretched my skin I stretched them REAL tight and used glue. They have stayed tight , despite humidity,,, but to me they are too tight. Great volume,,, but I find myself putting a winter sock between the spike and head to keep it from being too sustaining, I guess is the word. Kinda like one note is still going too much when I hit the next.
How tight should I pull it? I forgot,,,,,,,,, Im talking about early/minsterel style banjo. I see that many of the minsterel players seem to like a less plunky tone than I really want. I dont want muddy, but not too bright, either
