I'm a beginner, been playing about a year. I bought myself online what I think is a pretty decent beginner banjo - a new Morgan Monroe MBN-1 left-hand model which theoretically was fully and properly set-up. I usually play with a mute so I don't drive my family crazy, but whenever I'm home alone Roxie (my German Shepard) and I like to take the mute off and hear what a banjo is supposed to sound like. However, whenever I do this, I swear I can hear the phone ringing in the other room. Then I realized it is the banjo itself. I can't believe I should be hearing this type of ringing. Is this a tonal/set-up problem? If so, what can I/should I do? And no, it's not Roxie howling at my attempts to make music; she actually likes my playing - more than the rest of the family at any rate!
Thanks,
Ziffy
