I have read all the archived threads on this subject.. I believe this is real. But all the info is really vague. When we talk about other setup options, we give measurements and notes to shoot for. That is 5/16" tailpiece height, 89 to 90 on a Drum Dial, Amount of relief in the neck and so on. Here is my question. What is the measurement that would be a good starting point between the bottom edge of the wooden rim and the inside of the resonator? I'm sure there is a good starting place that all great setup men start at. I don't have Siminoff's book but I guess I need it. I tinker with this adjustment til I'm satisfied. But, I would like a "rule of thumb" measurement to speed my setup process!
I have experimented with cutting my test rims taller in .020 increments for a banjo I use for experimental purposes. More expensive than rae justers!!
