I'm no lover of any kind of reptiles and don't live in an area where I'm apt to see them. So, I was of no help to my niece and her daughters when this snake was lollying around on my niece's driveway this morning in St. Louis, MO. Unfortunately, we have conflicting suggestions from locals as to just what species of snake it is.
Anyone here able to positively ID this species of snake?
BTW...we also just found out.it's against the law to kill ANY snake in Missouri....unless it's actually threatening you. And no....we didn't smush it or take a shovel to it's head...but do definitely want to know what species it is given that my niece has children that play outdoors and it's the second one around the house we've seen.... or this may be the same one a second time.
