I am interested in buying a maple Stelling banjo, but I am also curiously looking into the Hopkins banjos. I have never played or heard a Hopkins but I am told they are awesome banjos and that the craftsmenship is second-to-none. I noticed that they have the Tony Pass rim. I am looking for a maple banjo with plenty of volume and crack to it. I realize banjos can be set up to sound different, but generally speaking, would a Hopkins maple sound somewhat similar to a maple Stelling or more like a Mastertone-type banjo? How about re-sale value? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
