Damgummit all anyhoo!
Steep Canyon Rangers (SCR) were at the MBOTMA Winter Fest last night in Minneapolis.
I had the day off and wanted to go and hear them and pick with the crowd that
usually gathers at our festivals up here (both bluegrass and old time).
Minneapolis is just 150 miles from me/ free-way the entire route/ and an easy 2 hour drive.
No snow (to speak of) all winter long, and THEN it comes right before my day off and the concert.
As a result of the weather (and snow covered roads - or - SCR), I decided it prudent to stay home.
Here's pics of my back porch -- taken yesterday, the day of the concert:
The first one is the table and bench on my back porch:
The 2nd one is the other side of the porch with the Smokey Joe grill:
The third one's of a yard stick I stuck there in the snow on the table to show snow depth:
Didn't feel like driving 150 (+) miles one way, and then returning
150(+) miles in the dark given that kind of weather/ road condition.
The roads here were about as icy and slick as I seen for a while,
And though they might've been better south of me, it wasn't worth the chance.
I didn't want to drive 150 miles (one way) at 30 or 40 MPH, even with 4-wheel drive.
If anyone who was there made a video of it for Youtube (or whatever),
I love to see some of them. Who'd a thunk it? I was looking forward to this, but - - -
SCR (Steep Canyon Rangers) "over-ruled" because of SCR (Snow Covered Roads).
