I wanted to share a group of audio recordings that were made in 1990 at band practice in Knoxville, Tennessee.
I had the good fortune to meet and befriend a great bassist named D. Stout and a dobroist named Monroe Queener.
Both were well-known fixtures on the East Tennessee music scene in the 1950s and 1960s when they
were part of The Mid-Day Merry Go-Round and The Tennessee Jamboree.
I have also made a personal blog which includes
more personal information about this experience.
Here, I just wanted to share the music.
I hope you enjoy...
All these years I thought I did not have any recordings of myself picking with Monroe Queener and D. Stout. Then about three years ago I came across an old cassette tape buried in a box in storage. The tape had been badly heat damaged over the years, so I paid to have the tape professionally cleaned up as best as possible, and saved as digital files. So I am delighted to be able to share these long lost clips with the world! It's my hope that more recordings will emerge of this truly great musical soul. Enjoy. |
