So I purchased a Presto tailpiece (new one, not an original) with hopes of replacing the cheap one on my Fender FB-54. (Aluminum pot banjo) When it arrived, I quickly found that it doesn't fit on my banjo. Has anyone installed an aftermarket tailpiece on an FB-54 before?
If I were to just bolt this one on, it would literally be sitting on the head. I did a search and found that most banjos (non aluminum) have a raised rim that would keep the tailpiece up off the head. The rim on my Fender is the same height, if not lower, than the head.
Thanks!
