I play a banjo with a 12" Renaissance head that doesn't seem to want to settle in on its adjustment. I've had this banjo for over a year but I have to repeatedly mess with tightness to keep it where I want it. I bought this banjo new. Most of the time I need to tighten it, but one time I had to loosen it. At the moment I have it set at 10 1/2 on my Neary drum dial, which gives me about a Bb tapped tone. But who knows what tomorrow may bring. Anybody have comments? At what tone do you set your Renaissance head? Will it stay unsettled forever? I'm writing from the perspective of bluegrasser used to Remo and Stelling heads.
