I'm trying to decide between a Chuck Lee Marble Falls ($2,800) and a Bart Reiter (Galax or Round Peak $1,400). I'm particularly interesting in buying a banjo with a "fast" neck in terms of playability. They are different tone rings (tubaphone in the Lee and White Ladye or Brass in the Reiter) so perhaps this is an apples to oranges question, but how doe these two banjos compare?
My first impression is that Chuck Lee Banjos have a few more bells and whistles, especially in terms of inlay, but in terms of woodwork and parts, the two banjo makers seem comparable.
Considering that Chuck Lee's banjos are about twice the price of Bart Reiter's, is the Chuck Lee really twice as good as the Bart Reiter Banjos?
