I am a guitar player and have just been handed a banjo that is a little beat up. The top membrane is torn, all the chrome and steel is pitted and or rusted but cleanable, tunning heads seem in good shape, tail is a grover, presto, in good shape neck is well played but sound, inner works look solid all wood is solid but worn. I have looked and can not find this paticular piece and was hoping to find out wether I should tell the owner to recondition, clean up myself or leave as a wall hanger. It is an Apollo special 4 string. No maker mark I can find. The head and finger board appear to be covered with mother of pearl or some simular material. it has 19 freats. and 22 ring clamps. The side and back are decorated. with flowers and a navajo like band. It has a grover tail peace but no bridge. I am hoping some one knows a little about this banjo. I am not sure if she wants to restore to play or for value. I need to find out if it is worth it for either> Thx for any response , I am hoping she wants to restore it and it might take me a while to get it back to her Hee hee. |
